Our lab is interested in the molecular mechanism underling photopic(color vision) and scotopic (dim light) vision. We study the behaviour and properties of the functional proteins involved in vision such as photoreceptors.

The photoreceptor molecule, rhodopsin, is the best understood GPCR. We are begining to understand how these membrane receptors work by using rhodopsin as a template.

Furthermore, we are interested in the diversity and evolution of GPCRs. Our goal is to understand how photoreceptors and GPCRs acquired diverse functions evolved
